Introduction to Thangka & Drawing the Buddha’s Face

Course Overview: Step into the Sacred World of Tibetan Thangka Painting

Through this course, you can step away from the busyness of daily life and find a peaceful sanctuary to connect deeply with yourself. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the traditional art of Tibetan Buddhist scroll painting, known as Thangka.

We will delve into the centuries-old history and origins of Thangka, uncovering the special role it plays within Buddhist philosophy.

Following traditional techniques, taking the time to draw the face of the Buddha stroke by stroke becomes a profound meditative experience in itself. For practitioners of Buddhism, this practice will serve as a powerful aid in deepening "visualization meditation"—the art of conceptualizing the Buddha within one's mind.

Throughout the course, the various symbols and meanings hidden within the Buddha’s facial features will also be explained in an accessible and easy-to-understand way.
